Bradford and Bingley Rescue was necessary but underlying housing crisis must be tackled .

Commenting on the nationalisation of the bank Bradford and Bingley announced today by the Government, local Lib Dem MP Dr Evan Harris, said "The best outcome would have been a private sector purchase of the bank. But with Bradford and Bingley as well as Northern Rock now state-owned, the Government should use its large stake in the mortgage market to properly address problems in that sector for low-income families."

County Council Decision may Finally Save the Radley Lakes. .

A decision today by Oxfordshire County Councillors on a planning application at Sutton Courtenay means that Thrupp Lake at Radley is likely to be saved permanently from destruction. The Lake was due to be filled with ash from Didcot 'A' Power station. A new planning permission will allow Waste Recycling Group (WRG) Ltd, who operate the Sutton Courtenay Landfill Site next to the power station, to take and store up to 400,000 tonnes of surplus ash that might otherwise have been destined for Thrupp Lake.This should mean that Thrupp Lake will not now be needed for ash disposal.

Dr Evan Harris MP, attended a Parliamentary Reception on Tuesday (26th) to mark Europe's first Rare Disease Day which takes place today, 29th February 2008.
