Big Turnout for South Abingdon Development Meeting

12.00.00am GMT Sun 1st Mar 2009

There was a big turnout of more than 160 local residents to have their say on a proposed large development south west of Abingdon. The meeting took place at Preston Road Community Centre on Thursday (26th February) evening.

The meeting, organised by local Vale District Councillors Samantha Bowring (Ock Meadow Ward) and Richard Webber (Drayton Ward) provided information about the proposed development and provided an opportunity for resdients to give their feedback on the plan.

"There are huge concerns about this proposed development in South Abingdon and Drayton," said Councillor Samantha Bowring. "We wanted to ensure that local resdients knew about the plans and could express their concerns about the proposed scheme."

Local resdients raised many issues about the plans including the impact on the already congested Drayton Road and the potential impact on flood risk.

"I am delighted that so many people turned out for the meeting to have their say. All the comments made during the evening will feed into the decision making process," said Councillor Richard Webber.
